The Role of CITES in Curbing Illegal Timber Trade The world’s forests are being rapidly destroyed by a tidal wave of illegal logging, driven by an unregulated international trade in stolen wood. These forests are home to most of the species listed on the CITES Appendices. Though the international community has committed to take urgent
